A farm, a ridge, and a valley full of birds
Vergenoeg is a working farm on the slopes of the Magaliesberg in the North West Province, overlooking the Skeerpoort valley and Hartbeespoort Dam. The quartzite ridge above us is roughly two billion years old, one of the oldest mountain ranges on the planet, and the walk along its crest gives you a vulture's view of the whole valley below.
For years the farm has been a quiet favourite among advanced hikers. We've since opened it up properly: graded hiking trails for every fitness level, a five-stage enduro mountain bike network, a café at the trailhead, and Eindelik, our wedding venue under the mountain.
Our trails also link into the Van Gaalen trail network, which stretches more than 60 km through the valley.
